August 7th – 15th
Every year, thousands of people flock to New Hampshire from all over the country. It is not to see Nascar at Loudon nor for Bike Week at Laconia, but the NH League of Craftsmen that sponsor its nine day Annual Craftsmen Fair at Mt. Sunapee, which is recognized throughout the country. With musical events and sounds of joy floating through the air, you can explore your way through unique crafts, works of art, workshops, and demonstrations from tent to tent. Arts and crafts are very diverse, and include pottery, clothing, metalworks, paintings, performing arts, and more. The mountain is alive with excitement and the entrance fee usually offers free skyrides to the top of the mountain for magnificent views and walks.
Cottage industries abound and the New Hampshire and New England crafts scene is active with dedicated individuals to perfecting their crafts. This year’s fair is daily from August 7th-15th and more information can be gathered by visiting http://www.nhcrafts.org/craftsmens_fair/fair_home.html.
Mt. Sunapee is one of the state’s natural gems with its pristine views of the lake and distant mountains. It offers great hiking trails and is connected to the 49 mile hiking trail system of the The Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway which runs between Mount Monadnock and Mount Sunapee. A two in one delight is to visit the craftsmen fair and Mt. Sunapee at the same time!
