Peterson's sugar houseStill “smokin’ ” this weekend, Peterson’s Sugar house would make a great outing for the family. This sweet gem will be host to visitors during this year’s NH Maple Weekend. Peterson’s, located here in Londonderry at 28 Peabody Row, is right near Exit 4 on Route 93, just 45 minutes from Boston. A wonderful place to stop in on the way home from ski trips in the New Hampshire White Mountains.

The kids will get a chance to see the sap drip, drip, dripping from the spouts in our local maple trees. When you come, you will find the ground firm in the morning, but a bit soft in the afternoon. Mud season is the best time for Maple production. It works out well for Hank too, no hay to get in, no cows to feed, just enjoy the day talking with parents and children interested in this sweet treat for breakfast or any time.

Hank will show visitors how the sap is collected and turned to maple syrup using a wood-fired evaporator. Visitors are welcome to tour the sugar house from 12 PM until 5 PM both Saturday and Sunday. Samples of sap, syrup, cream, candy and more will be available.

If you do stop in, pick up some real Londonderry Maple Syrup. It is all natural, organic, delicious on ice cream, baked apples, hot and cold cereal, pancakes, waffles, French toast and fruit. Use Peterson’s Maple Syrup instead of sugar when baking cakes, pies and muffins. Or do like Hank does, pour some over warm pecans.

If you’ve never been, be sure not to miss this family event!
