Portsmouth, NH Tall Ships are Coming!

Jul 12, 2012 | Cindy Winthrop | Categories : NH News and Events | 1 Comment

Friday is the start of a very exciting weekend for the Seacoast area. SAIL PORTSMOUTH will begin with the parade of ships going out to welcome the PRIDE OF BALTIMORE and PROVIDENCE as they make a port call in Portsmouth. It is possible to be a part of the parade on the GUNDALOW, PISCATAGUA, or the THOMAS LAYTON or the HERITAGE. If you aren’t a seafaring soul then arise early so you can view the parade from the banks of the Piscataqua River. Ships are leaving port at 7:00 to go to the mouth of the river. http://pmcportsmouth.org/sail-portsmouth/schedule-and-tickets

The festivities will continue throughout the weekend. The ships will be docked at the commercial fishing pier on Pierce Island. Admission to many historical sites in Portsmouth will be half price if you show the Sail Portsmouth 2012 brochure which will be available at the dock site. Information is available at www.portsmouthhistorichouses.org.

Make this a “discover our history weekend”. Everyone knows there are great places to eat while you’re here.
